Two time Champion back in victory circle!!
The season opener was a cold windy night! It was a very strange opening race with sevaral cars falling victim to the conditions and mechanical failures. Travis Burke and Mike Ortiz tangled in hot laps when Travis spun on the cold track collecting Mike Ortiz, putting Mike on the hook for the rest of the night. Second year driver Rex Reeve suffered mechanical failure along with Richard Portenier and Greg Owen during the first set of hot laps ending their night before it ever started. 2009 Champion Dean Waltman captured quick time followed by Jasen Skyberg and Bob Bachman. The heat race proved to be a battle against the worsening track conditions. Randy Sellars and Skyberg jumped out to a five car lead before Bachman and Waltman ran them down making it a four car battle for the win! Sellars held off Skyberg, Bachman and Waltman for the win in what was to become a night to remember for the two-time champ. Three-time ISRL champion Bachmans’ night would end after the heat race due to mechanical failure. The main event would prove to bring back a familar face to victory circle. Randy Sellars worked his way through traffic and took the lead on lap 11 and pulled away to an 8-car lead with Jasen Skyberg close in tow. It was pretty smooth sailing for the front two cars, but the battle for third was the hottest spot on the track as Bob Parks and Waltman battled for 11 laps before Waltman finally pulled a beautiful outside inside move on Parks and set his sites on the leaders who were now running nose to tail. Skyberg tried everything he could to rattle the 2-time champ but Sellars was not going to let this one slip away. Capturing his fist win in four years Randy would hold off a late charge from Skyberg and Waltman to stop the streak. Great job Randy! Feature Results: Sellars, Skyberg, Waltman, Parks, Andy Graybeal. Thanks and we will see you at Meridian on May 22. ISRL
